Following the success of the Vaccine Voices Project, CEH was invited by the Department of Health to apply for the Vaccine Ambassadors program. Having secured this funding, CEH is excited to welcome the project team of Commuity Nurse  Faiza Mahat and Project Officer Omar Elmi as Project Officer. They will form the Healthy Families (Vaccine Ambassadors program) team.

They will be encouraging the uptake of vaccination against COVID-19 for children aged 5-11 years from families from East Africa living on the Richmond, Collingwood and Fitzroy housing estates.  Furthermore, they will aim to increase health literacy of these communities of interest in relation to other public health issues.

Faiza is a Community Nurse and brings experience from her current work in the High Risk Accommodation Response program on the North Richmond Housing Estate. Faiza speaks Somali. Omar speaks Somali, Arabic and Malay and he is completing a Master of Public Health at Melbourne University.
