MHSS Involvement with community and what we do:

Multicultural Health and Support Services offers free education sessions to multicultural communities and international students in Victoria on sexual and reproductive health, viral hepatitis, HIV, healthy relationships and consent, contraception and more.

Our work with community

Cervical Cancer Screening

MHSS has delivered several in-language information sessions about Cervical Cancer Screening to Vietnamese, Arabic, Farsi, and Hindi speaking women’s group across several Local Government Areas in Melbourne. These sessions were supported by Cancer Council Victoria.

Health and Happiness, Tackling Taboo Project

With support from City of Boroondara and Swinburne University, MHSS and Women’s Health East organised a series of education sessions for Mandarin Speaking Female International Students. The sessions explored sexual and reproductive health, healthy relationships and consent, and their relationship with mental health. The main objective of these sessions was to untangle the taboos associated with these topics.

Rohingya Community Education Session

We delivered information sessions to Rohingya community in South Eastern Melbourne about healthy relationships, consent, common myths around Sexually Transmitted Infections, along with treatments and prevention of the infections.

Western Bulldogs Community Foundation - African Sons of the West Session

With the support of the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation, we delivered sessions to African Sons of West on Gender Equity, Healthy Relationships and Consent. The topics of discussions were around gender equity, equality, causes and effects of inequality, importance of gender equity, healthy relationships, consent and how to ask for consent.
