CEH has a new name – and a renewed focus on equity.
We’re proud to share that the Centre for Culture, Ethnicity & Health is now the Centre for Culture, Equity & Health (CEH).
This change reflects current language and thinking, and better represents how our work has evolved.
Why equity?
We have replaced the word ethnicity with equity because it more clearly reflects what we do today. Equity speaks to fairness and inclusion, and to improving outcomes across communities, not just culture alone.
Equity recognises that people and communities do not all start from the same place, and that achieving fair outcomes often requires different kinds of support, resources or approaches. This nuanced understanding sits at the centre of how CEH approaches health and wellbeing.
What remains the same
While our name has changed, much remains familiar.
We continue to use CEH, we have retained our logo design and colours, and we remain strongly connected to North Richmond Community Health and the health sector. These elements provide continuity and recognition, while allowing space for growth.
Our purpose and values have not changed. We continue to work to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for multicultural communities by strengthening culturally responsive and equitable practice.
Working across sectors
The refreshed name also reflects the breadth of our work. CEH works with many sectors and groups, including:
- Health
- Education
- Community services
- Government
- Corporate
The updated name supports the broad way we talk about health and wellbeing across many different contexts, and clearly reflects our leadership in cultural equity, collaboration and community wellbeing.
No matter what setting, our focus remains on supporting organisations to design services, systems and workplaces that are inclusive, equitable and effective for multicultural communities.
Looking ahead
The Centre for Culture, Equity & Health continues to bring together evidence, lived experience and practical expertise to support more equitable outcomes.
Our name has changed to better reflect this work. Our commitment to communities, partners and equity remains the same.
