Understanding the impact of stigma on the health of our clients

Stigma is an important concept to understand when working with clients from marginalised backgrounds, including migrant and refugee communities. Stigma affects many aspects of people’s lives including sexual health. This workshop will support participants to understand stigma, and its impact on your client’s help-seeking behaviour, addressing sensitive issues and their overall sexual health outcomes

• Increase understating of the impact of stigma on refugee and migrant communities help seeking behaviour
• Identify institutional enablers for stigma and our role in the perpetuation of stigma
• Implement strategies to create and encourage help-seeking behaviour.
