Medicines and diagnostic issues for CALD communities

Each year approximately 400,000 Australians experience problems related to using medicines resulting in 140,000 hospital admissions. Seniors from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds are overrepresented in these figures.

NPS logoSince 2005, the National Prescribing Service (NPS) has been working with the Federation of Ethnic Communities' Councils of Australia (FECCA) to promote the safe and wise use of medicines to CALD communities. We invite those working with CALD communities to join us for breakfast to discuss with us:

  • medicines issues for CALD communities
  • appropriate health promotion models
  • evaluation techniques, and
  • the issues for CALD communities accessing and using diagnostic services in Australia.

Participants can access previous evaluation reports on NPS strategies to date, and join the Multicultural Quality Use of Medicines Network.
